Why Joint Pain Increases in winters
- Due to the drop in temperature in winter, blood flow in some parts of the body starts decreasing. These also include joints. This may cause stiffness and pain in the joints.
- Some people are quickly affected by environmental pressure. Therefore, when there is a change in it in winter, pain in the joints may increase. This is often seen in people suffering from arthritis.
- If you reduce physical activity in winter, it can cause tight muscles and joint pain.
- Vitamin D is very important for bone health. Joint pain can also occur due to lack of sunlight in winter.
Ways to relieve joint pain
- Do light exercise and yoga without putting too much pressure on the joints. Swimming, walking and yoga maintain flexibility in joints.
- Keep joints covered. Try to protect joints from cold air in winter.
- Take a diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids, anti-oxidants and vitamin D. This reduces inflammation.
- Massage with oil can also help in reducing joint pain.
- If your pain still does not subside, then definitely consult a doctor.
