Lala Lajpat Rai was born on January 28, 1865, in the Monga district of Punjab. His father's name was Munshi Radha Krishna Azad and his mother's name was Gulab Devi. His father was a great scholar of Persian and Urdu and his mother was a religious woman. Lalaji's father was a teacher at the Government Higher Secondary School, Rewari. He completed his primary education from there.

After this he took admission in a government school in Lahore to study law. Lala Lajpat Rai's family moved to Hisar in 1886. It was from here that he started advocacy. He attended the annual sessions of the National Congress as a delegate in 1888 and 1889.

Was fond of serving the country since childhood
He had a passion for national service since childhood. He vowed to free the country from British rule. During his college days, he came in contact with patriotic figures and freedom fighters Lal Hans Raj and Pandit Guru Dutt. He was in favor of adopting a revolutionary path to liberate the country from the British. His policy was against the Indian National Congress. Along with Bipin Chandra Pal, Aurobindo Ghosh, and Bal Gangadhar Tilak, he also believed that the policies of the Congress were having a negative impact. He advocated complete Swaraj.

Left advocacy and joined politics
Lajpat Rai left advocacy and devoted his entire strength to liberating India. He felt that the atrocities of British rule should be exposed to the world. This will help India's freedom struggle from other countries. In this connection, Lala Lajpat Rai went to Britain in 1914 and then to America in 1917. In October 1917 he founded the Indian Home Rule League in New York. After this, he stayed in America from 1917 to 1920.

Formed Congress Independence Party
When he returned from America in 1920, he was called to preside over a special session of the Congress in Calcutta. He protested fiercely against the British rule against the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Gandhiji started the non-cooperation movement in 1920 when he led the movement in Punjab. He opposed Gandhiji's decision to withdraw the movement after the Chauri Chaura incident. After this, he formed his own Congress Independence Party. He was injured in a lathi charge during a protest against the Simon Commission in Lahore, after which he died.

Heart-touching story of childhood
Once a picnic was organized near the school. Lala Lajpat Rai also had to go in this. But they had neither money nor items at home so that their mother could make something to take on the picnic. His father came to know about this when he was going to the neighbor's house to ask for a loan so that his son's heart would not break. He said, father! Don't go for credit, I didn't want to go on a picnic anyway. Even if I have to go, if there are dates at home, I will take them with me.
