IRCTC Refund Rules: Almost lakhs of people travel by Indian Railways every day. Now this journey is not that easy, the train came, sat down and left. There are some rules regarding fares for all modes of public transport. We all make train ticket reservations to travel long distances. But sometimes due to some emergency or high waiting list, you have to cancel your ticket. Now if you cancel the ticket, your money comes back in the form of a refund. Now how much money will come and how much money will be deducted? In such a situation, you need to know about the rules related to ticket refunds.
Rules related to ticket cancellation
- If you cancel the ticket after the ticket is confirmed, then as per the rules, if we cancel the ticket 2 days i.e. 48 hours before the departure time of the train, a charge of Rs 60 per person is deducted.
- When a sleeper class ticket is cancelled, a charge of Rs 120 is deducted.
- As per AC class reservation ticket refund rules, Rs 180 is deducted on cancellation of the third AC coach ticket, Rs 200 on cancellation of the second class ticket and Rs 240 on cancellation of the first AC coach ticket.
On which ticket is GST charged?
Let us tell you that GST charge is added by the Railways to the AC coach ticket. But GST is not charged on any sleeper class ticket.
How many rupees are returned?
- If the ticket is cancelled after the ticket is confirmed, if we cancel the ticket within 48 hours to 12 hours of the scheduled time, then 25 percent of the amount is deducted.
- If we cancel 4 hours before the departure time then only half of the ticket amount is refunded.
- If you do not cancel the ticket within 4 hours or are unable to cancel it for any reason, then not a single rupee is refunded.
- If your ticket is on RAC and waiting list, then you must cancel the ticket 30 minutes before the departure time of the train. By doing this you get a refund.
