In the name of earning money by liking online jobs and posts, cases of fraud are continuously coming to the fore. In the last few months, such scams have become so common that the police of almost every state in the country have warned people about them and asked them to be vigilant. Still, people are falling into their trap. In a recent case, a 32-year-old man was duped of Rs 37 lakh by four people in the name of a part-time job of liking his Instagram posts. Let us know how this scam was carried out.

This is how the scam started
The complainant had uploaded his resume on two online recruitment websites as his contract with the company he was working for was expiring. According to the police, he received a part-time job offer from an unknown person on WhatsApp. He was offered Rs 70 for every like on his Instagram post. He was promised that he can earn Rs 2000 to 3000 per day just by liking Instagram posts. Explain that in many cases scammers offer money for YouTube likes.

The fraud game started from the Telegram group
The complainant was asked to share screenshots to show his work. After this, he was added to another group on a Telegram app where he was given some cryptocurrency tasks. Here they were asked to deposit a certain amount to buy cryptocurrencies and bitcoins. He then accessed the website with the login details provided by the accused. He initially invested around Rs 9,000 and got Rs 9,980 in return. This convinced him that the work was profitable and that he could earn more if he invested more. He again paid Rs.30,000 and got a profit of Rs.8,208.

Upgrade to VIP group and cheated millions
The complainant said that he was then told that he has been upgraded to the 'VIP' group on the Telegram app. This means that he needs to invest a huge amount. As they were getting profit in the earlier investment, they invested more after being convinced of it. Did not get any return after investing. When the complainant asked for his money back, he was told that he would have to pay more to get back his invested money. Falling into the trap, he invested a total of Rs 37.03 lakh but did not get anything in return. Only then did he realize that he had been cheated.
