Under the new rules, passengers will now be able to book train tickets 60 days in advance instead of 120 days. The period of advance ticket booking has been reduced from 120 days to 60 days.
According to the ministry, the purpose of amending the rules for advance ticket booking is to facilitate the travel of passengers. However, trains like Taj Express and Gomti Express will follow the lower time limit for reservation.
On the other hand, the period of advance ticket booking for foreign tourists will remain 365 days. No change has been made in this. The ministry said that between the years 1995 to 1998, the period for advance train ticket booking was 30 days.
