The cases of heart disease and heart attack have increased rapidly in the last few years globally. Till a few decades ago, heart diseases were considered to be a problem associated with increasing age, however, now a very young age, even the young population, is becoming a victim of heart attack-cardiac arrest.
In recent cases, death threats due to a heart attack during the Garba dance at Durga Puja pandals have come to light from different parts of the country. Health experts say that the way this deadly disease is increasing, we need to be more alert about our hearts.
Health experts say that heart disease can happen to anyone, hence we must remain alert about lifestyle and diet from an early age. These are the two main risk factors whose disturbance increases problems for heart health. Apart from this, after the age of 40, some tests should be done regularly so that the risks can be detected.
Increasing problem of heart diseases
Health experts say, with time many bad habits have surrounded us which are increasing the risk of heart disease. Most people are victims of a sedentary lifestyle; most of the day is spent sitting in one place. Apart from this, the problem of cholesterol and blood pressure is also increasing due to junk-processed foods, which hurt heart health.
If heart health is not taken care of from an early age, it can have serious side effects. Let us know through which tests the risk of heart disease can be detected. Consult a doctor once for all these tests.
Get your cholesterol checked
To test cholesterol, a blood sample is taken, based on which the amount of cholesterol and fat in your blood is determined. Cholesterol is a waxy substance found in your blood. Although it is needed for the formation of healthy cells, its excess can increase the risk of serious heart diseases.
A cholesterol level of 200 mg/dL in the blood is considered normal. Amounts of 240 mg/dL or above can be harmful.
ECG test
An electrocardiogram (ECG) test records electrical signals in the heart. With the help of this test, it can be known how fast the heart is beating, what is the rhythm of the heartbeat (stable or irregular) and what are the types of electrical impulses.
Changes in ECG can be indicative of many heart-related conditions. The help of this test is also taken to detect conditions like heart attack.
C-reactive protein test
To find out if there is any problem of inflammation in the body, it is advisable to get a C-reactive protein (CRP) test done. Elevated CRP levels may mean that you have a serious health condition that is causing inflammation. The hs-CRP test also helps determine the risk of coronary artery disease. In coronary artery disease, the arteries of the heart shrink, due to which there can be a risk of heart attack.
