Causes of fatty liver disease

Fatty liver disease develops when fat accumulates in the liver cells. For AFLD, the primary cause is excessive alcohol consumption, while NAFLD is usually associated with poor diet, obesity and inactivity.

Symptoms of Fatty Liver Disease

Abdominal pain: One of the first symptoms of liver damage is pain in the abdominal area. This occurs when the liver becomes inflamed and reduces its ability to function properly.

Itchy skin: Skin irritation, rashes, or persistent itching due to liver damage are warning signs that should not be ignored, as these may indicate a worsening of the condition.

Nausea and vomiting: Another symptom of liver damage is nausea, sometimes accompanied by vomiting. If these symptoms occur frequently or worsen at night, it is important to consult a doctor.

Dark urine: A noticeable change in the color of urine, especially when it turns dark yellow, may indicate liver damage.

Swelling in the legs: Excessive swelling and pain in the lower extremities, especially at night, are common symptoms of liver problems.

When to see a doctor

If you experience any of the symptoms listed above, especially those that get worse over time or occur frequently, it is important to consult a doctor.
