Women's health declines after the age of 40. This has come to light in a joint study of the Gynecology and Obstetrics departments at GSVM Medical College, Kanpur. The study revealed that every third woman has weak bones.
300 women aged between 40 to 60 years were included in the study. Of these, 214 women were confirmed to have osteoporosis. Of these, 90% of women had severe and moderate grades. According to the study, there are many reasons for osteoporosis in women, which include aging, menopause, poor diet, smoking, and alcohol consumption. Based on the findings of the study, it can be said that women should be conscious of their health and should get their bones checked regularly after the age of 40.
This was also found in women suffering from this disease
- Calcium was found in 6.6 to 8.1 mg per deciliter of blood (standard 8.5 to 10.5 mg).
- Protein was found to be 4.4 to 5.8 grams per deciliter (standard 6.0 to 8.3 grams).
- Vitamin D was found at 6 to 11.2 ng per ml (standard 12 ng).
- Iron deficiency was found in 79% i.e. hemoglobin was found above 12 grams only in 14 women.
- In the remaining women the level of hemoglobin was found to be only 6.1 to 9.7 grams.
The village women's diet was found to be the worst; their habit of eating stale food was found.
- Working women were found alert and sensitive. The study found a 15.5 percent fit.
Osteoporosis makes the bones hollow and
as the bones become weak, they start opening. The density also reduces. Bones also become weak. The possibility of fracture increases significantly.
Monoclonal antibodies are effective in this problem
- The Orthopedic Department of GSVM Medical College gave four therapies of monoclonal antibodies of Denosumave salt on 22 patients as a trial, the efficacy was found to be 76%.
- Hormonal replacement therapy was given priority.
Half of the women got relief when an attempt was made to cure it through three methods of medication along with yoga and exercise.
