Maintaining physical activity is important for your overall health. Studies have found the habit of regular exercise to be beneficial for both mental and physical health. If you are not able to exercise, then many types of health benefits can be obtained from some simple exercises like running-walking. Doing such aerobic exercises can also be beneficial in protecting you from many types of chronic diseases and the risks caused by them.

In a recent study related to this, researchers have shown that climbing stairs daily is effective for health. This habit can help reduce your risk of heart disease. Researchers at Tulane University in the United States said that by including this one simple exercise in your lifestyle, you can reduce the increased risk of death. For example, if you have been using the lift to go to the office, now use the stairs, it is very beneficial for health.

The team of researchers found that one must make a habit of climbing at least 50 stairs every day. This can be effective in reducing the problems of heart diseases which are increasing rapidly across the world. An analysis of data from more than four and a half million adults in the UK found that climbing the stairs every day could reduce the risk of atherosclerotic heart disease by 20%. This is a problem of hardening of the arteries due to which the normal flow of blood gets disrupted.

Researchers revealed in the journal Atherosclerosis that participants who stopped climbing stairs midway through the survey and instead took automated measures like elevators had a higher risk of developing heart disease. Even some mild lifestyle changes like these can improve your cardiorespiratory fitness and lipid profile, says Dr Lu Qi, one of the study's authors. All people have been advised to increase their physical activity.

What do the researchers say?
Professor Qi says it is important to include exercise in the daily routine, but due to work pressure, not all people can find time for exercise. This may be the easiest method for such people. This is a cost-free and accessible method. This study suggests a protective effect of stair climbing on the risk of ASCVD. Heart disease is a growing risk globally, by making small efforts like this we can prevent major health risks.
