After the side effects of the AstraZeneca vaccine, Covishield came to light, there are many types of fears in the minds of the people who have been vaccinated. In the last week of April, the vaccine manufacturer had admitted in a British court that vaccinated people may have the problem of blood clot formation in rare situations. However, in this regard, health experts have clarified that the side effects caused by the vaccine are quite rare, such side effects can occur in 7-10 out of 10 lakh people, therefore, people who have been vaccinated do not need to be afraid or panic.

Health experts have clarified that side effects from vaccination and medicines usually start appearing within a few hours to a few days. Since more than two years have passed since most people took the vaccine, there is no need to worry about the side effects of the vaccine.

Amidst this news, recent media reports show that people have started taking blood thinning medicines to avoid the fear of side effects of the vaccine. In this regard, health experts have issued a warning saying that taking medicines like blood thinners without medical advice can cause serious problems. One should avoid making such mistakes.

First, know what are blood thinner medicines.
Blood thinners are usually given to people who have very thick blood and are at risk of life-threatening problems like heart attack or stroke due to the formation of clots. These medicines slow down the process of blood clotting in the body. However, taking these medicines without medical advice can increase serious and life-threatening side effects.

What is the reason for the increase in its demand after vaccination?
Vaccine manufacturer AstraZeneca acknowledged that some vaccinated people may be at risk of developing a rare condition called thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS). Doctors use the term "thrombosis" to describe the formation of a blood clot, which can block a blood vessel. Sometimes it can also obstruct blood flow in some parts of the body. Thrombocytopenia occurs when a person's platelet count decreases. Platelets are important components of blood that help in immune responses.

According to media reports, to avoid such dangers, many people have started taking blood thinners on their own.

Blood thinners can be harmful
Talking to Amar Ujala, Noida-based cardiologist Dr. Abhinav Pandey says, that if you are taking blood thinning medicines on your own or without medical advice, then it can have many serious side effects. This can cause severe bleeding. In this, problems like bleeding from the nose and gums, and excessive bleeding after a small cut have been seen. Apart from this, there can also be a risk of dizziness, muscle weakness, hair loss, and rashes due to blood thinning medicines.

These medicines are needed only in serious cases
Dr. Abhinav explains, that not everyone needs these medicines. Doctors may recommend these medications as needed for people with heart or blood vessel disorders, heart rhythm abnormalities (atrial fibrillation), or people who have a higher risk of blood clots due to certain underlying diseases. These medicines should not be taken at all without medical advice.
