Generally, we all like to include petroleum jelly in our skincare routine. It is effective in completely removing the problem of dry skin. But the use of petroleum jelly is not limited to this only. It is also very beneficial for hair. Removing hair problems from dandruff to split ends and so on, makes your hair healthier and also helps in better hair growth.

Petroleum jelly forms a protective layer to prevent moisture loss from hair, helping to strengthen them and prevent breakage. Gradually, when hair health starts improving, its effect is also visible on hair growth. So, in this article today, Riya Vashisht, founder of RVMUA Academy, celebrity makeup artist and skincare expert, is telling you how you can apply petroleum jelly to your hair for better hair growth-

Apply directly

Petroleum jelly can be applied to the hair in many ways. The easiest way is to apply it directly to your hair. For this, take a pea-sized amount of petroleum jelly on your finger and apply it on your scalp and massage it very gently. Now you leave it like this for some time. After this, you wash your hair.

Include a hair mask

This is also a method of applying petroleum jelly to the hair. For this, mix a quarter teaspoon of petroleum jelly in your homemade hair mask. After this, apply this hair mask to your hair and leave it like this for about 15-20 minutes. Finally, wash your hair with a gentle shampoo and then apply conditioner.

Apply petroleum jelly and aloe vera gel

Your scalp needs a soothing feel in the changing season. In such a situation, it is considered good to mix aloe vera gel with petroleum jelly. To use it, break one spoon of aloe vera gel and one vitamin E capsule into one spoon of petroleum jelly and mix it well. Now go on sectioning your hair and apply it to the hair. Wash the hair after about half an hour.

Keep these things in mind

Whenever you apply petroleum jelly to your hair, keep some things in mind.

  • Before applying petroleum jelly to the entire scalp, do patch tests once to see if it suits you or not. Especially, if you have never used petroleum jelly before, then at least 24 hours must see that there is no allergic reaction in your scalp.
  • Also, the jar in which you store the petroleum jelly should be spotlessly clean.
  • Sometimes petroleum jelly is not easily removed from the hair. In such a situation, if your regular shampoo is not working, then add one teaspoon of baking soda to it.
  • Applying petroleum jelly to the hair only once a week is considered sufficient. If you apply it to your hair every other day, it can make your hair greasy.
