Ingredients to make Besan Onion Curry
Gram flour - 1 cup
Onion chopped long – 1/2 cup
Turmeric - 1 tsp
Cumin - 1 tsp
Rai - 1 tsp
Ajwain – 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 2 tsp
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Green chili - 3
Red chili powder - 1/2 tsp
Oil – 1-2 tsp
Curry leaves – 8-10
Green coriander leaves chopped - 2-3 tbsp
salt - as per taste
Method for making gram flour and onion curry
To make a flavourful gram flour-onion curry, first, sift the gram flour in a vessel. After this, make a thin solution of gram flour by adding one or two glasses of water to the gram flour. Now mix turmeric, celery, coriander powder, and red chili powder in the gholam. If you want, you can take the help of a whisk for whipping. Now take a pan and keep it for heating on medium flame. After the pan is hot, add one or two spoons of oil.
When the oil is hot, add mustard seeds, and cumin seeds and let them crackle for a while, then add asafoetida, curry leaves, green chilies and chopped onions and fry them. When the onion becomes slightly soft and becomes transparent, add the prepared thin solution of gram flour to it and cook while stirring with a spoon. After some time mix salt as per taste in gram flour. Now let the gram flour cook till it starts boiling. When gram flour starts getting thick, add green coriander leaves to it and let it cook for some more time. After this turn off the gas. Flavorful gram flour-onion curry is ready. It can be served with roti or paratha.
