The festival of Diwali is being celebrated with great pomp everywhere. Govardhan Puja is performed the very next day of this festival. There are many beliefs about Govardhan Puja in North India. This puja is celebrated on the Pratipada date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. This time this date is falling on 2nd November, so Govardhan Puja will be performed on 2nd November i.e. Saturday.

On this day people make the shape of Govardhan mountain on the ground with cow dung and worship it. On this day, Lord Shri Krishna is offered Annakoot along with all the dishes. Kadhi rice is also included in these dishes. Although nowadays people put boondi in Kadhi, but today we will teach you to make Pakora Kadhi and rice with the traditional method. So that you can offer it to Lord Shri Krishna on the day of Govardhan Puja.

Ingredients for Kadhi
- Curd: 1 cup
- Gram flour: 3-4 tbsp
- Water: 3 cups
- Salt: according to taste
- Turmeric powder: 1/2 tsp
- Red chilli powder: 1/2 tsp
- Ginger: 1 inch piece (grated)
- Oil or Ghee: 2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds: 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds: 1 tsp
- Curry leaves: 6-7 leaves
- Whole red chillies: 2-3
- Asafoetida: 1 pinch
For Pakodas
- Gram flour: 1 cup
- Green chillies: 1-2 (finely chopped)
- Ajwain: 1/2 tsp
- Salt: according to taste
- Oil: for frying

Method of making Pakodas

Make Pakodas before preparing Kadhi. For this, put gram flour, green chillies, ajwain, and salt in a bowl and mix some water to make a thick batter. Heat oil in a pan and fry small pakoras. Take care not to make them too crispy.

Method

Now to make the curry, first of all put curd and gram flour in a large vessel. Whisk it well so that there are no lumps. Now add turmeric, red chili powder, ginger, and salt to it, add 3 cups of water and mix well. Place this mixture on medium flame on the gas and boil it while stirring continuously so that the gram flour gets cooked well.

Cook it for about 15-20 minutes. After this, heat oil in a small pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida and whole red chilies to it. Fry them till they become light brown. Add this tempering to the prepared curry and mix well. After tempering, add the prepared pakoras to it.

Make rice

To prepare rice, first soak the rice for 15-20 minutes. After this, add 2 cups of water and salt in a pan and cook the rice. Cover and cook on low flame till the rice becomes soft and cooked completely. Serve hot kadhi with rice and enjoy it.
