Google keeps ending Android support from the Play Store from time to time. Especially from those devices that work on very old versions. Google has said that it is discontinuing the Play Store support for Android smartphones running Google Android 4.4 KitKat from August.
Android 4.4 was released ten years ago
Android KitKat was launched by Google in 2013 and that means it is almost 10 years old operating system. Google has reported that very few smartphones and tablets are running Android 4.4 KitKat. Their number is close to one percent. Google Play Services will not support KitKat from August.
Google will no longer provide updates related to the Google Play Store to Android devices running the KitKat version. That is, such users will be stuck on Play Services 23.30.99 and the service they will get in the future, update will not work on Android KitKat.
Android version support is separate from Google Play Services support. Even though Google has stopped supporting Android versions (updates and security features). However, Google Play Services will continue to work on these phones.
Discontinuing Google Play Services support means that Google has pulled this operating system out of the market. Google's support will not be available for new features and security for this operating system.
