Tech company Google is going to remove low-quality and non-functional apps from the Play Store. The company is starting work on this plan from August 31, 2024. Google has taken a new decision in the series of updating its spam and minimum functionality policy. Under this policy, the company will ensure that users get only such apps on the Play Store which have been prepared keeping in mind Google's higher standards.
Which apps will be removed from the Play Store?
Under this policy of the company, those apps will be targeted and are not designed for any specific purpose with very little content. Apps that do not showcase their specific functionality on the Play Store will be affected by this policy of the company.
These apps will include text-only apps and single wallpaper apps. Apart from this, apps that have failed to give the best user experience to the user will also be affected by the new policy.
Under this new policy, the company will remove apps that crash repeatedly and apps that are not able to install properly from the platform.
Only stable and responsive apps will be available on the Play Store
Google said during its policy update, apps should give their users a stable, responsive, and engaging user experience. The company will remove such apps to improve the security of the Play Store and the quality of the platform. It is known that there are millions of apps for users on the Play Store.
Let us tell you, in the year 2023, the company prevented 2.28 million apps that did not follow the policy from being published on the platform. Apart from this, the company rejected about 200,000 app submissions.
The developer has only 6 weeks left to prepare the apps under the new standard.
