It is believed that Lord Ganesha likes modaks very much. Apart from this, there are many other things that Bappa likes. Let us know the recipes of those food items.

Ganesh Chaturthi festival will begin in September. This 11-day festival is celebrated with great pomp and show. On this occasion, Bappa's favourite things are made. You must know that Lord Ganesha loves modaks and hence he is also called Modapriya.

It is believed that offering 21 modaks can please Lord Ganesha and Shiva and get their blessings. However, apart from this, there are many other things that Bappa likes. These include banana sheera and Motichoor laddus. Let us know their recipes in this article and you must also try them.

Puffed rice laddu with coconut and cardamom

Required Materials:

  • 2 cups puffed rice
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • ¾ cup jaggery, grated
  • ¼ cup chopped nuts (cashews, almonds and pistachios)
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 2 tbsp water

Method of preparation-

  • First, put grated jaggery and 2 tablespoons of water in a pan. Cook on low flame till the jaggery melts completely and turns into syrup.
  • In a large bowl, combine puffed rice, grated coconut, chopped nuts and cardamom powder. Pour hot jaggery syrup over the puffed rice mixture. Add ghee and mix well quickly.
  • While the mixture is still hot, apply ghee on your hands and make small laddus from the mixture. Let them cool completely and store them in an airtight container.
  • Puffed rice laddus with coconut and cardamom are ready. Do not forget to place it in the offering plate for Lord Ganesha.

Saffron Motichoor Laddu

Required Materials:

  • 1 cup gram flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • a pinch of saffron
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • ¼ cup chopped pistachios
  • 1 tablespoon dried rose petals
  • Ghee for frying
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Method of preparation-

  • First of all, make a smooth batter by mixing gram flour and water. Keep in mind that this batter should be as thick as dosa batter.
  • Heat ghee in a deep pan. For this, take a ladle with holes. Now pour the batter in the hot ghee using this ladle. This will make small round balls in the oil. Fry them till they turn golden and then take them out on a paper towel.
  • In a separate pan, add sugar, half cup water and saffron and mix till the sugar dissolves. The syrup should be of one string consistency. Now add cardamom powder and one tablespoon of milk to it.
  • Add the fried boondi to the syrup and mix well. Leave the mixture like this for 10-15 minutes. This will allow the sugar to settle well in the boondi.
  • Apply ghee on your hands and make laddus from the mixture while it is still warm. Decorate each laddu with chopped pistachios and dried rose petals. Decorate them in a plate and first offer it to Lord Ganesha .

Banana Sheera with Roasted Nuts and Raisins

Required Materials:

  • 1 cup semolina
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup ghee
  • ½ tsp cardamom powder
  • ¼ cup chopped nuts (cashews and almonds)
  • 1 tablespoon raisins
  • a pinch of saffron

Method of preparation-

  • Heat ghee in a pan, add semolina and roast it on medium-low flame. Roast it till it turns golden. When a nutty aroma starts coming from it, turn off the flame.
  • Put the milk to heat in another pan. Add the roasted semolina to the hot milk and stir the mixture continuously to prevent lumps from forming.
  • When the semolina absorbs the milk, add sugar, mashed banana and saffron to the mixture. Mix everything well.
  • Add cardamom powder and mix. Heat some more ghee in a small pan and fry the chopped nuts and raisins till golden brown. Add them to the sheera and mix well and serve.
