The festival of Mahashivratri has great importance in the Hindu religion. People celebrate this day with great pomp. Every year the festival of Mahashivratri is celebrated on the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month. This year this date is falling on 8 March. If beliefs are to be believed, the marriage of Lord Bholenath and Mother Parvati took place on this day.

It is said that by observing a fast of Bholenath, you can please him. His worship also destroys all the sorrows. Due to this, people worship Lord Bholenath on this day to please him. Many people also keep fast.

If you are also thinking of observing a fast on Mahashivratri, then you can prepare potato papad in advance to eat during the fast. These fruit papads will be useful during Mahashivratri as well as other fasts.

Ingredients for making potato papad
One kilo of boiled potatoes
Rock salt as per taste
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 tsp cumin

Method
It is very easy to make fasting potato papad. For this, first, just mash boiled potatoes in a big bowl. If you want, you can grate the potatoes. This will allow them to be mashed properly.

After this add rock salt, black pepper, and cumin seeds. Mix all the ingredients well. You have to knead it like dough. When it is kneaded properly, make small balls from it. Place these balls in a papad machine and make fine papads.

Potato Papad
Now let it be exposed to strong sunlight for two days. These will dry up after two to three days of exposure to strong sunlight. Now you can taste it by frying it in ghee on the day of Mahashivratri.
