Salwar Kameez is a Persian word in the Urdu language. It is said that the origin of the salwar kameez dates back to the Mughal period. Where both men and women used to wear salwar kameez in different ways. At that time, women used to wear different types of jewellery along with salwar kameez. Mughal women mostly wore salwar kameez made of fabrics like muslin, silk and velvet because at that time these clothes used to be very expensive.
Salwar kameez used to have different designs even in the Mughal period. In which the most popular was the Anarkali suit. The Anarkali suit was one of the popular garments among the Mughal courtiers and royal families. Even today women like Anarkali suits very much.
Styles of Salwar Suit or Kameez
In modern times, ie in the present times, there has been a lot of difference in the dress compared to the traditional in India. Now women wear kameez not only with salwar but also with jeans, palazzo and skirt etc.
Anarkali suit
Anarkali suit is a frock style top till the feet in which more frills are seen. Anarkali is usually worn with a churidar bottom. Now from cotton to silk, you can choose an Anarkali suit in any fabric of your choice.
Patiala suit
As its name suggests, it is one of the royal dresses of Punjabi which is worn by women in Punjabi families. But today we see every other woman wearing it. Its salwar plate starts from just below the belt and is made till the end. Women like to wear it with a short Kurti or kurta.
Palazzo Suit
Palazzo is becoming the first choice of Indian women these days. It not only looks stylish but is also very comfortable to wear. Women wear it with kurtas, Kurtis, t-shirts or crop tops. Women of any age can wear it very easily.
