It is most important to respect women on Diwali. Any kind of abuse or insult is considered a serious sin.

When performing rituals for Goddess Lakshmi, avoid using steel, glass or plastic utensils. Instead, opt for copper, brass or silver, as these materials are considered auspicious and enhance the sanctity of the prasad.

4. Maintain cleanliness at the place of worship

Cleanliness is a must during Diwali. Make sure the place of worship is free from dirt and clutter.

5. Do not wear black clothes

Wearing black or dark blue on Diwali is considered inauspicious. Opt for bright, vibrant colours that reflect the joy of the festival and invite positive energy into your home.
