Any kind of negligence regarding firecrackers can sometimes cause serious problems. If you have also become a victim of such problems during the Diwali celebrations, then seek medical help immediately.

Eye injury due to firecrackers can be serious, it should not be ignored at all. Some home remedies can be beneficial in case of minor injury or burn on the skin or hand. Let's know about this.

What do doctors say?

Cases of burning of hands due to firecrackers are reported every year during Diwali. To know what should be done immediately if such an incident happens with you or a friend or relative, we talked to Dr Manik Agarwal, a consulting physician at a private hospital in Pune.

The doctor says, that despite knowing that firecrackers can cause harm, people still act carelessly every year. The number of such patients in OPD increases every year after Diwali. If the injury or burn is more serious or is also on the eyes and face, then immediately consult a doctor. Some remedies can also be beneficial in case of minor injury or burn, however, even after this, consult a doctor once.

A cold compress on the burnt part
If the hand or skin gets burnt due to firecrackers, then keep the burnt area in cold water for 10-15 minutes. This reduces the burning sensation and the swelling does not increase. Cover the burnt area with a clean and dry cloth so that dust and dirt do not get there. This way the risk of infection is reduced. Sometimes blisters also form due to burns, which can cause you severe pain. Avoid bursting the blisters as this can cause infection.

Protect the skin from getting dry.

You can apply moisturizing lotion on the burnt area, this helps in preventing the skin from getting dry. Do not use any cream, or lotion without asking the doctor. Also, use painkillers only on the advice of the doctor. The doctor gives you antiseptic cream, which can be applied to the burnt area to reduce the risk of pain and infection.

You can get benefits from aloe vera.

Aloe vera has been found to be beneficial in reducing skin irritation or other problems. Its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties are beneficial in preventing the growth of bacteria in the parts around the infection and reducing the risk of infection. The use of pure aloe vera gel extracted directly from the plant is considered more beneficial.

Apart from this, applying coconut oil can also help you with skin problems. Coconut oil contains vitamin E which is very beneficial in reducing the marks of burning on the skin.

What is the advice?

Doctors say, there is a risk of burning hands and damage to the eyes due to firecrackers. Therefore, there is a need to be very careful while burning firecrackers. In many people, the risk of losing eyesight due to firecrackers has also been seen, so do not be careless at all. Home remedies are only for minor injuries or burns. If the burn is serious or there is a wound, then go to a nearby hospital without delay.
