To stay healthy in Ayurveda, there is a lot of emphasis on the food items and the right time to eat them. What we eat, which food combinations we eat and at what time we eat, all these things have a direct impact on our health. Nowadays there have been many changes in diet and lifestyle. Many such things have come into vogue in the name of healthy things, which Ayurveda does not consider healthy. In today's time, smoothies are very much in trend as a healthy diet option for weight loss. People like to have them for breakfast.
Smoothies are made from a combination of many fruits and healthy ingredients. Although the trend of drinking smoothies has increased nowadays, does Ayurveda consider it healthy? Ayurvedic expert Dr Nitika Kohli knows about Ayurveda's opinion on smoothies.
What does Ayurveda say about the consumption of smoothies?
- According to Ayurveda, the wrong food combinations people are consuming these days are smoothies. Smoothies in which mostly citrus fruits are mixed and mixed with milk are taken.
- According to Ayurveda, fruits are sour i.e. whose nature is acid, when you mix them with milk then it is not right. Milk is sweet. Mixing these two things means that you are mixing two opposite juices.
- Our digestive system will not be able to digest the combination of these two opposite juices.
- This produces toxins in the body. There can be problems related to digestion and skin.
- Smoothies are cool. According to Ayurveda, cold foods are difficult to digest. These harm the digestive fire.
- Nothing is cooked in smoothies but mostly raw ingredients are used.
- According to Ayurveda, raw foods are difficult to digest.
- When they are not digested properly, they start rotting in the stomach and promote yeast and bacteria.
- Sometimes fruit is mixed with yoghurt instead of milk in smoothies, or some fruits and vegetables are added. Both these food combinations are not correct.
- They can be responsible for weakness in the body and many other problems.
