Cases of mosquito-borne disease dengue are being reported in many states of the country including Maharashtra-Delhi. This disease is breaking the records of previous years in Maharashtra. Compared to last year, this time in the first seven months of the year, a jump of up to 83 percent has been recorded in the state in the cases of dengue. Similarly, many other states including Karnataka-Kerala are also being affected.

Health experts say that all people need to remain cautious about the risk of dengue. In serious situations, dengue can also cause life-threatening problems.

If we look at the media reports, it is known that the risk of dengue is increasing in the national capital Delhi-NCR as well. Health experts have alerted about mosquito-borne diseases due to rain and waterlogging.

What do doctors say?
Health experts say that everyone should pay serious attention to the measures to prevent mosquitoes. Talking to Amar Ujala, Dr. Diwakar Singh, a consultant at a Delhi-based hospital, said that at present, dengue cases are under control in the capital Delhi-NCR, although there is a fear that it may increase.

In many hospitals in Delhi, dengue is being diagnosed in patients coming to OPD. At present, the number of patients being admitted is low.

Complications of dengue

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in a report that the problem of dengue lasts for two to seven days, although in severe conditions, the risk may be higher. Due to this, there may be a risk of headache, retro-orbital pain, skin rashes, and bleeding problems. Dengue is usually mild in children. At the same time, in some adults, it can cause severe pain in the bones along with other complications.

What to do if you get dengue?

The Health Ministry said that it is important to pay serious attention to some things when you get dengue.

In cases of dengue, fever should be monitored every hour. Fever should be checked regularly.

If the fever is not getting cured, then definitely get the platelet count checked. Platelets are essential for early diagnosis.

Drink plenty of fluids.

Use acetaminophen (paracetamol) for pain.

Avoid anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen and aspirin.

Keep an eye on severe symptoms and contact your doctor as soon as possible if you do not get relief from the symptoms.

What not to do in case of dengue?

Do not take aspirin or ibuprofen to treat dengue fever.

Your appetite may decrease due to dengue, however do not stop eating.

Avoid salty and spicy food, this can increase dehydration and digestive problems.

If the fever is not getting cured in 2-3 days, then definitely see a doctor. Treatment should not be delayed.
