Difference between dengue and chikungunya
Both dengue and chikungunya diseases are caused by mosquito bites. Genus Flavivirus is responsible for dengue, while chikungunya is caused by genus Alphavirus. In both these diseases, fever starts rising first. In such a situation, let us know how to differentiate between the two diseases.
Symptoms of dengue
If you ever get a fever due to mosquito bites, first of all, look at your eyes in the mirror, if they are red then understand that you have dengue. In this disease, the color of the skin becomes light red. Usually, this fever lasts for 3 to 4 days, due to which there is a decrease of platelets in the blood. In such a situation, one may also face change in taste, dizziness, vomiting, and unconsciousness. In bad conditions, the body temperature reaches 104 degrees Fahrenheit.
Symptoms of Chikungunya
Like dengue, in Chikungunya too, fever comes first, along with this there is such pain in the joints which sometimes becomes unbearable. Even if this fever subsides, its effect remains for many days. In Chikungunya, there is also a complaint of pain in the eyes and sore throat.
How to avoid dengue and Chikungunya?
1. The way to avoid these diseases is to not let mosquitoes breed
2. Try to prevent water stagnation, because mosquito larvae breed in it
3. Remove water from pots, tires, coconut shells, pits
4. Clean the cooler twice a week
5. If it is not possible to clean the cooler, then put 2 spoons of kerosene in it
6. Be it night or day, sleep in a mosquito net, this will reduce the risk of this disease.
