Dal fry is considered a very favorite thing in North India. In any season, if you get hot pulses and rice along with it, then there will be no shortage of anything else. In such a situation, today we will teach you how to make dhaba-style dal at home.

Everyone likes the fried dal available at the dhaba. In such a situation, with the help of our recipe, you can also make this delicious dal at home and serve it to your family. To fry dal, you can take your or your family's favorite dal. We will tell you how to fry gram dal in this article.

Dal Fry Ingredients
Gram dal (as per your choice) – 150 grams
Tomato - 2
Onion - 1
Desi Ghee - 2 tbsp
Ginger
Green chilli- 2

Spices
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Salt - as per taste
Bay leaf
red chilli
Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Asafoetida – 1/8 tsp
Cumin - 1/2 tsp

Method
To make dal fry, first, soak the dal for four to five hours. After soaking it thoroughly, add two cups of water, turmeric, and salt as per taste in the cooker and put it on gas. After the first whistle, reduce the gas to medium and then let it cook for 4 more whistles. When it is cooked, remove the lentils from the gas.
While the dal is cooling, prepare the masala for frying it. To prepare this masala, add two spoons of ghee to a pan and heat it. When the ghee becomes hot, add bay leaves to it and fry. After this, add finely chopped onion, green chili, and grated ginger to the pan and fry it properly till it turns golden. After the masala is roasted, add chopped tomatoes to it.
After this, add garam masala, coriander powder, and turmeric powder to the pan and cook properly. When the tomatoes melt and mix with the spices, add cooked gram dal to the pan.
After this, lastly heat ghee in a pan. Add red chili, asafoetida, and cumin in hot ghee and fry. Just dal fry is ready. Serve it with rice or roti.
