The new variant of coronavirus is being seen as increasing health risks around the world. Studies have found that the new variant JN.1 is more infectious, hence a sharp increase in the number of patients has been recorded in many countries in the past few days. According to recent media reports, coronavirus has reached its peak in Singapore, apart from this, experts in America have cautioned people about another possible wave of infection. In many other countries too, daily infection cases are breaking the records of the last year.

If we look at the data of the Corona epidemic that started in December 2019, it is found that in about four years this virus has infected 701,157,669 people. 6,964,862 people have died due to the infection, while 672,250,203 people have recovered from the infection.

Health experts say, the increasing cases of Corona are also increasing the risk of new variants, hence everyone needs to remain alert to stop its spread. Even though the new variant JN.1 does not cause serious diseases in people, it may cause the infection to increase rapidly in any population.

How is the situation in India?
Talking about the situation of Corona in India, according to the data released by the Union Health Ministry on Saturday, 774 new cases have been confirmed in the last 24 hours, and the active cases of Corona in the country have now reached 4,187. Two deaths (one each from Tamil Nadu and Gujarat) were also reported in the 24 hours, according to data updated by the ministry at 8 am.

It is noteworthy that till December 5, the number of daily cases was in double digits, but due to cold weather conditions and the new corona sub-variant JN.1, it started increasing again. The highest number of cases of infection are being recorded in two states, Karnataka and Kerala.

Corona reached its peak in Singapore
Doctors in Singapore believe that the Corona wave is at its peak in the country. Many clinics still have more patients than usual and doctors are keeping an eye on a possible surge in the coming months. According to the local media report on Friday, doctors said that compared to December, Corona cases in the country have decreased by about 20 percent, however, people have been alerted about the possible threat of Corona in January-February.

The country's hospitals have already been alerted to the possibility of another surge in the coming months. Healthway Medical's 57 clinics are seeing an average of 50 to 60 patients a day with respiratory infections, the report said, with the majority of these cases being COVID-19 and influenza.

Cases increased in many states of America
Due to this new variant of Corona, in Singapore as well as in America, there has been a rapid increase in the number of infected people in many hospitals in the past few days. Given the increasing cases of infection, wearing facemasks has been made mandatory in hospitals and medical centers. Several states, including California, Illinois, Massachusetts, and Washington, have also issued guidelines requiring indoor masking.

Health experts say, in view of the increasing risks of Corona, it can be said that JN.1 is causing another wave, and we need to take special precautions to prevent the spread of infection.

The danger is increasing in India also
If we look at the Corona figures in India, the number of daily cases has remained above 700 continuously for the last three days. The new variant of Corona has been confirmed in about 12 state-union territories of the country, the highest number of cases have been registered in Karnataka. Given the increasing risks of infection in the state, Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Friday directed health officials to speed up testing and collect samples of all those who are having flu-like symptoms.

Other states where JN.1 cases have increased include Kerala, Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. Health experts are appealing to all people to protect themselves from Corona.
