People are celebrating Chhath Puja from 17th to 20th November with great enthusiasm. Today is the second day of the great festival of Chhath Puja. The festival of the second day is known as Kharna. Kharna i.e. on this day the devotees keep fast for a period of about 8 to 12 hours and make Prasad for Chhathi Maiya.

The traditional Prasad of Chhath is famous even among those who do not celebrate this festival. Thekua is offered in Chhath Puja, but apart from this, there is another Prasad which is mandatory to be offered in Chhath Puja. In the worship of Kharna, jaggery kheer, also known as Rasiya, is offered to Chhathi Maiya. If you are making jaggery kheer for Kharna, then delicious Prasad can be prepared with this method.

On the second day of Chhath Puja, kheer made of jaggery and rice is offered to the Sun God. It is served with roti or puri. Let us know the ingredients and method required to make this.

Ingredients for making kheer
Half cup rice, 3/4 cup finely broken jaggery, one-liter full cream milk, 8-10 almonds, cashew nuts, raisins, cardamom.

How to make kheer
Step 1- To make jaggery kheer, first boil milk in a big vessel.
Step 2- Till then cut the dry fruits into fine pieces and keep them aside.
Step 3- After this, wash half a cup of rice thoroughly and soak it in water for half an hour.
Step 4- When the milk starts boiling, add the rice to the milk and mix well. Keep stirring the milk with a spoon and after the kheer starts boiling, reduce the flame to low.
Step 5- Keep stirring the kheer every one to two minutes so that it does not stick to the bottom of the vessel.
Step 6- Now put half a cup of water and jaggery in another vessel and keep it on the gas, when the jaggery completely dissolves in the water, turn off the gas.
Step 7- When the rice boiling with milk becomes soft, add cashews, raisins, and almonds to it. Also, add cardamom powder.
Step 8- After cooling the kheer, filter the jaggery solution through a sieve and mix it well in the kheer.
