Kutumsar Caves are located in KangerGhati National Park, 38 km from Jagdalpur. It is possibly the second-largest natural cave globally. It has five chambers. The Kutumsar Caves are also home to a unique species of genetically distinct fish. The caves are closed for some time during and after the monsoon. They usually open around the celebration of BastarLokotsav.
Kailash Cave
Bastar is a mystical land of dense forests, serpentine valleys and rivers. There are three extraordinary caves in Kanger Valley National Park. Kailash cave is the oldest cave in this region. This cave was discovered in 1993. Among the underground caves of Bastar, Kailash cave has the oldest limestone structure. The known length of this cave is 1000 feet with a depth of 120 feet. It forms a Shivalinga-like shape due to the breathtaking limestone formations.
Sitabenga and Jogimara Cave
Sitabenga and Jogimara are two caves on the Ramgarh hill located near Ramgarh village in the Surguja district of Chhattisgarh. The hills have many caves at different levels, but the most important and frequently visited are the Sitabenga and Jogimara caves. Jogimara cave is known as the oldest cave. At the same time, regarding the Sitabenga cave, it is believed that Lord Rama spent time in these hills with Sita and Lakshmana during his exile. The caves are situated on the western slope of the northern part of the Ramgarh hills. To reach these caves, one has to pass through a tunnel of a strange shape. The total length of this tunnel is about 180 feet and its height is between 15 to 20 feet.
Kabra Cave
Kabra Cave is one of the most popular tourist places in Chhattisgarh. The caves are located in the Raigad district of the state. The caves were formed 800 million years ago and are among the oldest globally. The caves are an important tourist attraction and are known for their stalactites, stalagmites and other formations. Actually, at that time tribal people used to live in caves and they used to paint in caves, which are called rock paintings. The Kabra cave also has rock paintings painted with deep red chalk and ochre. It has figures of tortoise, horse and deer.
