Cancer is one of the leading causes of death globally, the incidence of cancer and deaths due to it are increasing rapidly in both men and women. Recent studies have expressed concern that the rate at which breast cancer is increasing in women, there is a possibility that by the year 2040, its cases and risk of death may increase many times more.

Experts of The Lancet Commission have expressed concern that one million people are expected to die every year due to breast cancer by 2040. Even now 6-7 lakh women are dying every year due to this cancer, there is a danger of these figures increasing further.

Expressing serious concern over the increasing global cases of breast cancer, the team of experts said that all women need to be cautious about its risk from an early age. Getting regular breast exams, identifying your risk factors, and taking preventive measures can be important in preventing this cancer. Given the global trends being seen at present, there is a fear that cases of this cancer may cause great pressure on the health department.

There is a possibility of an increase in diagnosis and death by the year 2040.
The Lancet Commission report said that in the five years to the end of 2020, about 7.8 million (over 78 lakh) women were diagnosed with breast cancer and about 6.85 lakh women died from the disease. The Commission estimates that breast cancer cases globally could increase from 23 lakh in 2020 to more than 30 lakh by 2040.

Most of its cases are being reported from low and middle-income countries where people are being disproportionately affected. The risk of deaths from this disease is also expected to exceed one million per year by 2040. Health experts said the risk of breast cancer is continuously increasing among Indian women.

Need to be careful regarding breast cancer
Health experts said, failure to diagnose cancer cases on time not only affects the treatment but also affects the quality of life with time. The later the cancer is detected, the more difficult it becomes to get treatment and save the patient's life. The risks of this cancer can be reduced by making some changes in lifestyle and diet.

Reshma Jagsi, professor and researcher at Emory University School of Medicine in America, says that it is important for women to be careful about this increasing health problem. Awareness campaign is also very important for this, which can help in identifying its risks in time.

What do experts say?
Professor Reshma says, along with promoting awareness campaigns to reduce the risks of breast cancer, there is also a need to improve the quality of communication between patients and health professionals. People should also be educated to promote cancer screening from time to time so that the problem can be diagnosed in time.

The sooner cancer cases are detected, the easier their treatment can be.

Change in lifestyle is also very important
Health experts said that the risks of cancer can be reduced through some measures in daily life, and all women need to be aware of this. The risk of breast cancer is seen to be higher in overweight women, for this, you must keep your weight under control. Along with this, being physically active and increasing the amount of fruits and vegetables in the diet can reduce the risks.

Studies have found that alcohol and smoking can also cause the risk of breast cancer. Staying away from these habits can also reduce the risks of breast cancer.
