Google has announced a new feature for its Gmail app that allows users to translate emails. With the help of the new feature, users will be able to translate emails into their preferred language. The new feature has been released for mobile Gmail users. This feature, previously only available on the web, is now available for Android and iOS devices.
Will be able to translate into more than 100 languages
Google said in a blog post, "For years, our users have been given the ability to easily translate email in Gmail on the web in more than 100 languages. Starting today, we are releasing this feature for the Gmail mobile app as well." We are excited to announce native Translate integration that will enable you to communicate in multiple languages without any hassle."
Will translate in a single tap
This feature detects the language of the email content and displays it on the top banner. After which users can translate it into their preferred and prescribed language in a single tap. For example, if an email is in English and the user's language is Hindi, they can tap on "Translate to Hindi" to see the translated text and the email will be translated into Hindi.
On the other hand, if users do not want to translate the email, then they can remove the banality seen above. Not only this, users will also get the facility of not translating emails in a particular language. Users will be able to select their preferred language by going to the setting option, in which language they want to translate the email.
How to use the Gmail Translate feature
To translate a message, click the "Translate" option at the top of your email.
You can also dismiss the Translate option if you want to read the email in the original language.
Let us know that this banner will appear again when Gmail detects the content of the email different from the specified language.
To turn off the translate banner for a particular language, you need to tap on "Don't translate language again".
If the system cannot detect any other language, you can translate it manually by tapping on the eye button (three dots).
