Hair fall is a very common thing. There are many factors like tension, pollution, changes in weather etc. This problem gets cured after a few days. But there are some people whose hair falls a lot. The hair strands start breaking and falling and sometimes it leads to baldness. If this is happening to you too, then do not consider it as ordinary because it points towards some kind of disease. In medical language, it is called Alopecia Areata.
What is Alopecia Areata?
In normal hair fall, the hair falls from the middle but in this, the hair falls in patches. This is a disease that occurs when the immune system attacks the hair follicles and causes hair loss. This problem can happen to anyone, male or female. In this problem, apart from the hair on the head, eyebrows, beard hair and eyelash hair also start falling. Hair usually falls out in round pieces. People suffering from this disease appear healthy.

Types of alopecia areata
- Patchy alopecia areata – This causes coin-shaped patches of hair to appear.
- Alopecia Totalis – In this, all the hair on the head falls out.
- Alopecia Universalis- In this, hair from other parts of the body also falls.
