"Jumma Namaz timing fixed." When will the Basant Panchami puja be held at Dhar Bhojshala? SC suggests this
The issue of worship and prayers on Basant Panchami at Bhojshala in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, was debated between Hindu and Muslim parties in the Supreme Court on Thursday (January 22, 2026). A bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant suggested that Hindus perform the prayers until 12:00 a.m. and then again from 4:00 p.m.
Responding to the court's suggestion, the petitioner stated that it would be better if the prayers could be held after 5 p.m., to which the Muslim lawyer replied that the Friday prayers are scheduled and cannot be changed.
The Hindu Front for Justice (Hindu Front for Justice) has filed a petition seeking to prevent Muslims from offering namaz there on that day. The petition states that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has permitted Hindus to perform puja every Tuesday and on Basant Panchami, while Muslims are permitted to offer namaz every Friday from 1 to 3 pm. This 2003 order does not specify what would happen if Basant Panchami falls on a Friday.
The petition states that Basant Panchami is a highly sacred festival for followers of Sanatan Dharma, and the traditional worship of Goddess Saraswati has been performed on this day for a long time. Whenever Basant Panchami falls on a Friday, the simultaneous worship and prayers often lead to chaos, conflict, and sometimes communal tension.
