Social media has been flooded with AI-created or edited images lately. It's important to verify them before trusting them, and Google has introduced a new feature to address this.

AI-generated photos can be detected in a jiffy.
Now, detecting whether a photo has been generated or edited by AI is going to be incredibly easy. To do this, Google has added a new feature to the Gemini app, which will instantly tell you whether a photo has been generated or edited by AI. Users simply need to upload a photo to the Gemini app and ask if it was created by AI. Google Gemini will immediately verify it and report it. It's worth noting that AI-generated photos have been widely shared recently. Therefore, this feature will prove extremely useful in determining their authenticity.
Only images will be verified now.
Currently, this feature can only verify photos created with Google's AI tools. It uses Google's invisible watermarking technology, SynthID, to verify photos. Google says it will soon add the option to verify video and audio. In addition to Gemini, Google is also considering integrating it into its search service, allowing users who don't already use the Gemini app to take advantage of this feature.
How will this feature work?
If you want to find out whether an image was created or edited by AI, upload it to Gemini. After uploading, write the prompt 'Is this image created by AI?' in the text box and send it. After this, Google Gemini will verify its SynthID and tell you the complete context of this image. According to reports, currently only images created by Google's AI tools can be verified, but in the future, support for other sources can also be added to it, after which it will be able to verify photos created by tools like ChatGPT.
