Israeli attack on UN headquarters, 1 foreigner killed, 4 injured: Gaza ministry claims

At least 20 Palestinians were killed in Gaza on the same day, as Israeli airstrikes resumed and the military issued new evacuation orders for residents in combat zones, news agency Reuters reported, citing local health workers.

 

 

 

 

Palestinian health officials said Israeli airstrikes killed more than 400 people on Tuesday, the highest single-day death toll since the conflict began. The Israeli military denied attacking the UN compound in Deir al-Balah, saying it had targeted a Hamas site in northern Gaza where preparations were detected to fire into Israeli territory.

 

 

Israel had warned

Israel warned that the attack was "just the beginning" and blamed Hamas for breaking a ceasefire that had brought weeks of relative calm since a January truce. Hamas accused Israel of threatening mediation efforts for a permanent ceasefire.

 

 

According to Israeli officials, the war began after Hamas-led gunmen attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, killing about 1,200 people and taking about 250 hostages. In response, Israel launched a military operation in Gaza, which Palestinian health officials say has killed more than 49,000 people.

Israeli forces drop leaflets in northern and southern Gaza

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision to resume the bombing has sparked protests in Israel, where 59 hostages are believed to be held, 24 of whom are still alive. On Wednesday, the Israeli military dropped leaflets in northern and southern Gaza warning residents to evacuate, saying they were in "dangerous war zones."
