Senior India batsman KL Rahul has undergone a successful operation on his right thigh and is eyeing an early return to the national team. Lucknow Super Giants captain Rahul suffered the injury earlier this month while fielding in an IPL match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. 31-year-old Rahul had stumbled and fell on the ground while fielding. After this, he was also out of the final of the World Test Championship (WTC).
Rahul wrote on his social media handle, "Hi everyone! I just had a surgery. It was successful. Many thanks to the doctors and medical staff for making sure I am comfortable during that time. All Something went smoothly. Suryakumar Yadav and Sunil Shetty have also commented on his post.

Ishan Kishan has been included in place of Rahul in the Indian team for the World Test Championship final to be held at the Oval ground in London from June 7 to 12. However, the Lucknow Super Giants skipper says he is determined to return to the field. He said- I am on the way to recovery now. I am determined to give my best and get back on the field.

Rahul, who has played all three formats for India, will try to get fit and make a comeback in the Indian team in time for the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup to be held in India later this year. Apart from KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Jaspreet Bumrah are also injured. Pant's chances of getting fit till the World Cup are slim. At the same time, Bumrah has started practicing again at the National Cricket Academy.
