Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni may undergo knee surgery on Thursday (June 1). He was seen battling knee problems in the 16th season of IPL. Within 48 hours of winning the IPL, he consulted a doctor in Mumbai. Dhoni has consulted the same doctor who treated wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant.
According to media reports, Dhoni was at Mumbai's Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute on Wednesday (May 31) to undergo treatment for his knee. Now he may have surgery on Thursday. The captain of Chennai Super Kings has met Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala. Dinshaw is a specialist in sports orthopedics as well as the director of sports medicine at the hospital. He is also treating Delhi Capitals, captain Pant.
This information was given by the CEO of CSK
Before going to Mumbai, Dhoni talked to the management of Chennai Super Kings about this. The franchise has sent its team physician, Dr. Madhu Thottappili, to accompany Dhoni to Mumbai. Earlier on Wednesday, Kashi Vishwanathan, CEO of Chennai Super Kings had informed about Dhoni's injury. Dhoni was seen troubled by a left knee injury during the IPL. He used to land in every match by tying a special bandage.
Dhoni batted lower down the order during the IPL. When he was asked about it, he said that he cannot run much. "Yes, it is true that Dhoni will take medical advice for his left knee injury and take a decision accordingly," Viswanathan had told news agency PTI.
Will Dhoni not play in the next season?
Is there a possibility that Dhoni will decide not to play in the next season and thus empty the purse of Rs 15 crore for the mini-auction? To this, the Chennai CEO said, "To be honest, we are not even thinking in that direction as we have not reached that stage. It will be completely Dhoni's decision, but I can tell you that in CSK We haven't considered these things."
