MS Dhoni New Record: Mahendra Singh Dhoni's captaincy has been seen in every season in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Dhoni will now make another record in the 16th season of IPL when he will go against Rajasthan Royals (RR) as captain for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Dhoni will become the first player in IPL history to captain 200 matches for a single team.

Since the first season played in the year 2008, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has captained Chennai Super Kings in 199 matches, out of which the team has won 120 matches and lost 78 matches. Under Dhoni's captaincy, the Chennai team has so far won the IPL title 4 times. Apart from this, the team has also travelled to the finals 9 times.

In terms of captaining the most number of matches for any one team, after Dhoni, the current captain of the Mumbai Indians team is Rohit Sharma, who has captained the team in 145 matches so far. After this, the name Virat Kohli comes at number three, and has captained the Royal Challengers Bangalore team in 140 matches.

Second in terms of scoring most runs in IPL as a captain
Mahendra Singh Dhoni has also captained the Pune Supergiants team in IPL for one season when the Chennai team was banned for 2 years. Dhoni is second in terms of scoring the most runs as captain in IPL. Dhoni has 4582 runs in 213 matches at an average of 40.19. Which includes 22 half-century innings. In this case, the former captain of the RCB team is Virat Kohli, who has 4881 runs in his name as captain.
