IPL 2025: Rashid Khan Takes Stunning Catch – Ran Backwards, Slid, Fell, But Held On to the Ball

In a thrilling IPL 2025 match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Rashid Khan delivered one of the most breathtaking moments of the tournament. His incredible catch to dismiss SRH opener Travis Head not only electrified the crowd but also turned the momentum firmly in Gujarat's favor.

Gujarat Titans Outclass SRH by 38 Runs

SRH needed a win to stay alive in the race for playoffs, but GT dominated across departments, winning the match by 38 runs. Batting first, Gujarat piled up a massive 224 runs, thanks to powerful knocks from Shubman Gill (76 off 38), Jos Buttler (64 off 37), and B Sai Sudharsan (48 off 23).

In response, SRH started strong with Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma adding 49 runs for the opening wicket. However, Rashid Khan’s spectacular fielding effort in the 5th over brought that stand to an abrupt end.

The Moment That Stunned Everyone

On a short ball from Prasidh Krishna, Head attempted to pull the ball over midwicket, but it caught the top edge and ballooned into the sky. The ball seemed destined to land between deep midwicket and deep square leg, away from any fielder.

But Rashid Khan, stationed at deep square leg, had other plans. He sprinted to his right, adjusting his angle as the ball drifted midwicket. At the very last second, he dove full-stretch, skidded along the ground, and completed an unbelievable sliding catch just inches above the turf.

A Crucial Turning Point

Head was dismissed for 20, visibly stunned by the dismissal. The catch broke SRH’s momentum, reducing them to 49/1. Though Abhishek Sharma went on to score 74, he lacked support from the other end. SRH eventually crumbled and were bowled out for 186 runs, falling well short of the target.
