India-Pakistan Tension: Foreign Ministry Hopes Situation Won’t Escalate Further

Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor, a senior official of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has expressed hope that the situation will not worsen further. The comment comes in the backdrop of Pakistan’s aggressive response to India’s anti-terror operation and its failed missile and drone attacks on Indian military bases.

MEA Official: “We Should Hope Situation Doesn’t Escalate”

Speaking on Friday, Dammu Ravi, Secretary (Economic Relations) in the MEA, highlighted the global connection between security, development, and economic growth. He stated:

“We should hope that the current conflict will not escalate further and will gradually subside.”

Although he refrained from directly naming Pakistan, his remarks clearly alluded to the ongoing tensions with the neighbouring country. Ravi emphasized that during periods of conflict, industries naturally retreat, adding that it's not a time to take business risks.

Industry and Economy at Risk

Ravi also pointed out that prolonged hostilities between India and Pakistan could negatively impact trade and market stability. The fear of a potential economic slowdown has already begun to surface as markets react to uncertainty in the region.

India's Defence: Foiling Pakistan's Attacks

Tensions surged after India successfully thwarted a major attack by Pakistan on Thursday night. The Pakistani Army had targeted Indian military installations in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur, and other locations using missiles and drones. All threats were neutralized swiftly, according to the Indian Defence Ministry.

Following this, the Defence Ministry reiterated that India is fully prepared to safeguard its sovereignty and citizens against any external threats.

As diplomatic and military postures remain on high alert, both economic observers and peace advocates are closely watching the situation, hoping that diplomacy will prevail over escalation.
