India on High Alert: Home Ministry Cancels Paramilitary Leaves Amid Rising Indo-Pak Tensions Post ‘Operation Sindoor’

Following the aggressive and highly successful Operation Sindoor, tensions between India and Pakistan have reached a boiling point. In response to the escalating situation, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has placed all security forces on high alert and cancelled the leaves of paramilitary personnel across the country.

This unprecedented move reflects the seriousness of the current security environment, as intelligence agencies anticipate potential retaliatory actions or escalation from across the border.

No Leave, Only Duty: Paramilitary Forces on Standby

All units of India’s Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) — including the CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF, and SSB — have been directed to remain at their postings and report fit for emergency mobilization. Sources confirm that forces stationed along the international borders and Line of Control (LoC) have been placed under Code Red protocols.

A senior MHA official stated, “The situation is volatile. The success of Operation Sindoor has hit enemy networks hard. We cannot afford to drop our guard.”

What is Operation Sindoor?

Launched in retaliation to the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Operation Sindoor was designed to neutralize cross-border terror infrastructure and avenge the deaths of Indian soldiers, including female personnel. Over 90 terrorists have reportedly been eliminated so far, making it one of the most effective surgical campaigns in recent times.

Importantly, the operation made headlines for the active participation of women soldiers, symbolizing the rise of 'Nari Shakti' (women power) in India’s defense strategy.

Pakistan Bleeding, India Watching Closely

Following the offensive, multiple reports suggest deep unrest within Pakistan-occupied territories, with Pakistani defense infrastructure scrambling to respond. Pakistan's foreign ministry has issued strong statements accusing India of “military aggression,” while simultaneously moving additional troops closer to the LoC.

India, however, maintains that its actions are defensive and targeted solely at terror camps operating with impunity in PoK (Pakistan-occupied Kashmir).

Defense experts warn that retaliatory strikes or infiltration attempts could be imminent, prompting India to strengthen vigilance along vulnerable sectors, particularly in Jammu & Kashmir and Rajasthan.

Airports, Metro Cities on Alert

In tandem with border deployments, security has been heightened in metro cities, critical infrastructure points, and airports. Anti-terror squads have been placed on 24-hour standby, and surveillance has been intensified at major railway stations, religious sites, and public gatherings.

The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has also circulated a nationwide advisory, calling for tight monitoring of suspicious activities and digital chatter on encrypted platforms.

India’s Strategic Posture: Prepared but Patient

Despite the mounting pressure, India is not seeking a full-scale conflict, top government sources say. Instead, the current posture is to remain resolute, defensive, and diplomatically strong. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a high-level security review meeting on Monday, reiterated that national security is non-negotiable, and every necessary measure will be taken to protect India’s sovereignty and civilians.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs has begun briefing foreign envoys about the situation, emphasizing India’s right to self-defense under international law.

Citizens Urged to Remain Calm but Vigilant

While no civil curfews or restrictions have been announced, the MHA has urged citizens, especially in sensitive border regions and metros, to stay alert, avoid rumor-mongering, and report any suspicious activity to authorities.

Local administrations have been directed to review emergency protocols, and mock drills are reportedly being conducted in parts of Jammu, Amritsar, and Delhi.

Standing United in Uncertain Times

As India remains on high alert post-Operation Sindoor, the cancellation of paramilitary leaves signals that the situation is serious, but under control. With Pakistan visibly rattled and India firmly committed to national security, the coming days will be crucial in determining how the geopolitical tension unfolds.

One thing is clear — India is unwilling to bow down to terror threats, and its defense forces—men and women alike—are prepared for every possibility.
