Donald Trump at UNGA: Donald Trump said that China and India are the main countries funding the ongoing war in Ukraine by purchasing Russian oil. He also targeted the United Nations.

US President Donald Trump, while addressing the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Tuesday (September 23, 2025, alleged that India and China are funding Russia for the ongoing war in Ukraine.

The Trump administration has imposed an additional 25 percent tariff on India for purchasing Russian oil, bringing the total US tariffs on India to 50 percent, the highest in the world. "China and India are the main countries funding this war by buying Russian oil," Trump said in his address to the general debate of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

 

India has called the US tariffs unjustified and stated that, like any major economy, it will take all necessary measures to protect its national and economic interests.

Donald Trump began his speech by highlighting the "greatest accomplishments" of his first eight months in office. He listed several reasons why he believes America is in its golden age. Trump criticized the organization for not helping him with any of his foreign policy initiatives. He accused the United Nations of supporting people coming to the United States illegally. He said, "The job of the United Nations is to prevent invasions, not create and fund them ."

'No dangerous country should have nuclear weapons'

 

US President Donald Trump addressed the United Nations General Assembly for the first time in his second term. He last addressed the meeting as president in 2020. Referring to the Iran War, he said, "There, we destroyed Iranian nuclear facilities through Operation Midnight Hammer. I believe that no dangerous country should have nuclear weapons. I would also like to say that no one else could have done what we did."
