Sri Lanka, who won the toss and elected to bat first in the three-day practice match, declared their first innings at 363/8. Nishan Madushka and Ravindu Rasantha put on a 110-run partnership for the first wicket. Nishan made 66 with 12 boundaries before departing. Ravindu then added 61 runs for the second wicket with Pasindu Suriyabandara, taking the team to 171. Pasindu Suriyabandara made 35 with 6 fours before departing, while Ravindu went on to score 71 runs with 7 boundaries. Captain Sonal Dinusha then added 63 runs for the seventh wicket with Ramesh Mendis to take the team past 300. Sonal added 52 runs, including 1 six and 5 fours, while Ramesh Mendis contributed 32 runs. For India, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and Manav Suthar took 2 wickets each, while Gurnur Brar took 1 wicket.
