Sri Lanka's Sports Minister Sunil Kumara stated that security for the match has been prioritized to ensure that no problems arise during the tournament. Speaking to the AFP news agency, the sports minister said, "We are paying special attention to the India-Pakistan match." He also stated that special commando units will be deployed to protect both teams.

"From the time they leave the airport till they return to their plane, armed guards will protect them," an official reportedly said.

The upcoming T20 World Cup will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The Indian and Pakistani teams have stopped playing in each other's countries, so the tournament will be played in Sri Lanka. Pakistan will play all of its matches in Sri Lanka.
