The fluctuations in crude oil prices first affect commercial cylinders because their prices are determined based on market risks and international crude oil prices.

There is no change in the prices of LPG cylinders.
Amid high demand during the festive season and rising crude oil prices, LPG rates have been released for today. Crude oil prices have reached $113 per barrel, which could impact the petroleum products we use in our daily lives. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is one of these. However, rising crude oil prices are likely to have a greater impact on commercial LPG prices than on domestic LPG cylinders.
What is the current rate of domestic LPG?
A domestic LPG cylinder is cheapest in Noida, priced at ₹939.50. This is followed by Mumbai and Delhi, where it costs ₹941.50 and ₹942 per cylinder, respectively. In Kolkata, the price of an LPG cylinder is ₹968, and in Chennai, it costs ₹957.50. Similarly, in southern Indian cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Thiruvananthapuram, a 14.2-kilogram LPG cylinder is selling for ₹994, ₹944.50, and ₹951, respectively. Meanwhile, LPG is most expensive in Patna, where it costs ₹1,031.50 per cylinder.

Impact of crude oil on commercial LPG
On Thursday, Brent crude oil closed above $113 per barrel. Meanwhile, WTI crude oil was trading around $99 per barrel. Commercial LPG prices are heavily influenced by international crude oil prices. According to information provided by the Ministry of Petroleum, the price of commercial LPG used in hotels and businesses changes automatically every month because its price is directly linked to international benchmarks.
This isn't the case with domestic LPG cylinders. To protect the public and families from inflation, the government largely controls the price of a 14.2-kilogram cylinder, or maintains stability for political and social reasons. This is why, even when crude oil prices rise, domestic cylinder prices remain unchanged for months, while commercial cylinders experience significant increases.
