Selfie video for Google Account: Now you can log in to your Google account using a selfie video. The company has introduced a new sign-in and recovery option, in which your identity will be verified through a selfie video. If the account cannot be recovered through other methods, then users will be able to access it through their selfie video. Apart from this, it can also be used to access many other Google features and services. However, this feature has not been rolled out everywhere and for every device yet.

The feature will serve as an additional option for account recovery.

Google has stated that this feature will serve as an additional recovery option alongside passkeys and recovery contacts. You must be signed in to your Google Account to set it up. If you're not signed in, you won't be able to add selfie videos.

How to add a selfie video?

• This feature hasn't been rolled out to all users. Therefore, you'll need to check eligibility first. You can check if this option has rolled out to your device by typing g.co/signin-selfie into your browser. If the feature is available, you'll see the option to take a short face video.
• To enroll in this feature, open the Selfie Video setup page and follow Google's instructions. Throughout the process, keep looking into the device's camera and make head movements as instructed. The camera will capture your face from multiple angles. Your selfie video will then be securely saved to your Google account.

When will the recorded video be useful?

If you're unable to access your Google account from your device or have forgotten your password, Google will offer you the option of selfie verification to recover your account. You'll then be asked to record a fresh video. Google will compare that recording with the saved video and, after verifying your identity, grant you access to your account.

Privacy will also be taken care of

Google has stated that this video will only be stored with the user's consent. It will be fully encrypted during storage and can be deleted at any time. Google has also stated that it has implemented several security checks to prevent spoofing.
