The ICC said that the aim of this move is to increase the popularity of women's cricket around the world and bring it at par with men's cricket. ICC Chairman Jay Shah said that this is a step towards giving priority to women's cricket. He said, this announcement will prove to be a milestone in the journey of women's cricket. This four-fold increase in prize money is a historic moment for women's cricket and reflects our clear commitment to its long-term development. Our message is simple, women cricketers should know that if they choose this game professionally, they will be treated equally as men.
