IPL 2025: The 18th season of IPL will start in a few hours. In history, this has proved to be a league that has made many players millionaires overnight. One of those names is that of Australia's deadly all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who was stunned by the bid in 2013. He told the story of how his luck changed and he was surprised to see his bank balance.

Maxwell had a brilliant career

Glenn Maxwell, who plays aggressively in IPL, is a well-known name. He made his IPL debut in the year 2012. In the very next year, Mumbai made such a move on Maxwell in the auction that he was stunned. In the mega auction of IPL 2025, Maxwell was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 4.2 crore, but 12 years ago, Mumbai had spent Rs 5.3 crore on this fierce player.

Maxwell's head was confused

Maxwell had revealed about this in the Hawi Games podcast. He said, 'I remember I was in England in 2013. I went to the ATM to withdraw some money and the balance showed up on the screen and I got really nervous, because I had never seen such an amount before. It was a six-digit amount. I was like... I was making a complete fool of myself. This is not my account. I was like, I don't know what happened here.'

'What should I do with this money..'

Maxwell further said, 'I called back home and I thought, I don't know what to do. What do I do with this money? And then I went home and met a financial advisor. We were quite close and he helped me find someone in that area and basically talked about what I wanted to do with my money.'

Maxwell became a hero from zero

Maxwell said, 'It was a big change, I think, to be at a point where I was able to put my money in places where I didn't know what I was doing with it. I never thought I would have so much money. I think when you think about money growing up you think like, I'll just buy a house with a lot of money and hopefully everything will be fine. You'll get a car and everything else will be fine. Just get to your place.'
