The decline in gold prices continues in the country. Gold prices have fallen further in most cities. On the morning of July 27th, the price of 24-carat gold in the capital, Delhi, fell to ₹1,45,070 per tola (10 grams). Over the past week, the price of 24-carat gold had risen by ₹1,800. Similarly, the price of 22-carat gold had risen by ₹1,650. However, gold prices remain under pressure due to reduced purchasing power in the domestic market. The spot gold rate in the international market is $4,052.78 per ounce. Global tensions, the US Federal Reserve's tight monetary policy, and inflation concerns have all put pressure on gold prices. In January 2026, gold prices reached a high of $5,602 per ounce; however, since then, it has fallen by approximately 28%. The price has fallen below $4,000 per ounce twice recently and is currently trading around $4,052.
Gold is cheaper than its highest level
In January, the price of gold in India reached an all-time high of nearly ₹1.80 lakh per 10 grams. However, the price has now dropped to ₹1, 45,000—a drop of approximately ₹35,000 from its peak. Gold prices have been falling steadily for the past few months. Therefore, the biggest question on investors' minds is whether this dip is an opportunity to buy, or if gold prices could fall further.
