Drone Didi Yojana: How to apply for the 'Namo Drone Didi' scheme? Which women will benefit? Read the full details

The central government has launched the "Namo Drone Didi Scheme" to connect women in rural areas with modern technology and provide them with new employment opportunities. Under this scheme, women are provided free drone training. After completing the training, women can earn a good income by spraying fertilizers and pesticides on farmers' fields using drones.

Which women benefit?
This scheme is applicable to women's self-help group (SHG) members. Applicants must be members of a registered SHG. Beneficiary women are then selected based on government regulations and eligibility criteria.

How to apply?
There's no separate online application process for the Drone Didi scheme. Women should first join a women's self-help group in their village or area. Afterward, they should contact the Agriculture Department, District Administration, or National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) office in their district. The relevant officials provide information about the scheme, and selected women are sent for training.

What is taught in the training? Selected women receive comprehensive drone flying training. This includes safe spraying of fertilizers and pesticides on fields, drone maintenance, and safety precautions. Upon successful completion of the training, the women are awarded an official certificate.

A major opportunity for women
: After training, women can start their own businesses by providing drone spraying services to farmers. This helps increase their income. It also reduces farmers' time, effort, and costs. Therefore, this scheme is becoming increasingly important in empowering rural women to become self-reliant.
