Why did the price of gold rise?
On Tuesday, gold became more expensive by ₹1,457 in the bullion market. The weakening of the rupee was a key reason for this. The rupee fell 29 paise against the US dollar to close at 95.22 per dollar. India purchases a large amount of gold from abroad and pays for it in dollars. When the rupee weakens, importers have to spend more rupees to purchase the same amount of gold. This can also impact domestic market prices.

What is the status of gold and silver in the international market?
On Monday, spot gold rose by $17.49, or 0.44%, to reach $4,013.12 per ounce. Silver remained stable at $53.91 per ounce. Gold prices are not solely influenced by the rupee's movement. The dollar's position in the international market, interest rate expectations, inflation, and geopolitical tensions can also influence prices.
