How much did gold become expensive?

Gold prices rose for the second consecutive day in the bullion market today. On Thursday, gold rose by ₹500 to ₹1,49,800 per 10 grams. In the previous trading session, gold of 99.9 percent purity had closed at ₹1,49,300 per 10 grams. The rupee's weakness and a strong global trend are believed to be the main reasons behind the rise in gold prices.

How much did silver prices fall?
While gold prices rose, silver prices fell. According to local traders, silver prices fell by ₹5,000 to ₹2.27 lakh per kilogram. On Wednesday, silver closed at ₹2.32 lakh per kilogram. This means the price of silver fell by ₹5,000 in a single trading session.

Both gold and silver fell this week.
Despite the price improving for two consecutive trading sessions, gold prices are still down for the week as a whole. Gold prices fell by ₹2,800, or about 2 percent, while silver prices fell by ₹10,000, or about 4.2 percent. This indicates that despite the recent rally, precious metals remain under pressure this week.

Gold and silver prices also rose in the international market
on Thursday. Spot gold rose $11.94, or 0.29 percent, to $4,169.06 per ounce. Silver prices rose nearly 1 percent to $60.79 per ounce. This strong global trend also impacted the domestic bullion market.
